Kanika has alleged that singers are not paid for singing in the industry. Kanika has claimed that music producers give singers only Rs. 101 as royalty in their contracts.

Kanika Kapoor added that some producers feel that they are doing a favor to singers by giving them a chance to sing. When a singer gets a chance to sing a song, they get only ₹101 in the name of royalty.
Urfi Javed asked if singers really get so little money? In response to this, Kanika said, ‘Singers do not get royalties. I will show you all the contracts, they get only ₹101. I can say without naming anyone that even famous singers are not getting royalties for their hit songs.’
