Fire broke out at Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh at night, fire brought under control.
A major fire broke out on a famous and historic hill in Edinburgh, which was brought under control and firefighters fought it through the night.

Firefighters worked through the night to contain the massive Gorse Fire that has spread across a prominent hill in Edinburgh.
Emergency services were alerted to the blaze on Arthur’s Seat late on Sunday evening. According to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, two fire appliances remained at the scene, and crews were helping to put out hotspots.
There were no reports of casualties.
Thick black smoke billowed into the sky from an extinct volcano in Holyrood Park as a fire raged.
“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances and specialist resources to a fire affecting a large area of gorse,” an SFRS spokesperson said. The cause of the blaze is currently unclear.
Who Was King Arthur?
King Arthur is a legendary figure in British folklore and medieval literature, often depicted as a heroic king who led the defense of Britain against invading forces, particularly the Saxons, during the early medieval period. While there is no definitive historical evidence of his existence, his story has been told and retold in numerous legends, myths, and literary works.

Arthur’s Seat is a popular tourist attraction in the Scottish capital. From the top of the hill, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the old city and the surrounding area, including the sea to the east.
The fire broke out as the city kicked off its annual Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the world’s largest performing arts festival.
Oasis fans also flocked to the city over the weekend as the band played two shows at Murrayfield Stadium. They will return to the stage for a third show on Tuesday.
A similar fire broke out at Arthur’s Seat in 2019, which firefighters worked for eight hours to bring under control.
